Emerald Green Overdrive

The Emerald Green Overdrive takes the EGDM and backs down the gain stages, changes the saturation and compression points, and makes the appropriate EQ changes for the EG to be used more in the overdrive range for the clean-to-medium dirt Vox-type sounds. In fact, the Volume and Drive controls have the same range as the Honey Bee and Model G. And past noon on the Drive control is really more about adding compression and sustain.

The Emerald Green Distortion Machine Silver (for Silicon) covers a wide swath of British dirt, and can cover both Vox and Marshall territory and more! It is built to be both a distortion generator and a proper booster to cause the amp to make the driven sounds…and is useful for combinations of both. The original BJFe EGDM has a bright, silicon-flavored edge. It really nails the Queen tone!

This is the original BJFe formula EGDM in the form of the new Emerald Green Distortion Machine Silver, which offers more edge and swirling high harmonics than the Germanium version, and is brighter overall. You will understand why the treble control was added.

The Honey Beest is an extension of the classic Honey Bee, adding saturation and treble to a much loved design. The heart of the Beest is the addition of a pregain booster controlled by the Pregain knob. The pregain booster is not a simple linear booster, but has an intentional upper mid and treble accent that lets you mix the two gain stages to get just the right saturation and treble. The Nature and Pregain knobs make a wide-ranging EQ section. The Drive and Pregain knobs give full control of the distortion saturation and compression. This also makes the “big bottom” part of the Nature control more useful. Turning the Nature knob full left and the Pregain full right creates a full range overdrive…sort of like if you’ve got a 50-watt 4×12 Supro.
